چکیده

Abstract In the near future, due to growing share of variable renewable energy in electricity mix and lack large-scale storage, coal plants will have shift their role from base-load operation providing fluctuating back-up power. However, current power plants, based on steam Rankine cycle, are not optimized for flexible part-load operation, resulting an intrinsic inadequacy fast load variations. The founding idea H2020 sCO2-Flex project is improve flexibility pulverized by adopting supercritical CO2 Brayton cycles. Despite extensive literature about design sCO2 there still limited discussion strategies be implemented maximize system efficiency during operation. This paper aims provide deeper insight potential recompressed cycle with high-temperature recuperator (HTR) bypass configuration small modular (25 MWel). Analysis focuses both a preliminary sizing each component comparing different operating strategies. Results demonstrate that can achieve competitive nominal thanks progressive increase heat exchangers effectiveness. Moreover, they operated down 20% electric increasing range plants. Finally, possibility optimize minimum pressure ensures safe compressor far surge line performance at low load.

Minimization of water consumption under uncertainty for a pulverized coal power plant.

Coal-fired power plants are large water consumers. Water consumption in thermoelectric generation is strongly associated with evaporation losses and makeup streams on cooling and contaminant removal systems. Thus, minimization of water consumption requires optimal operating conditions and parameters, while fulfilling the environmental constraints. Several uncertainties affect the operation of t...

Nuclear Power Plant Load Following: Problem Definition and Application

The general opinion about nuclear power plants is that they are not flexible generating units characterized with low or no load following capabilities. Therefore they should be used as baseline units only. Given the economic perspective of this issue, it is clear that the reasons for use of nuclear power plants as baseline units are purely economic. They have the lowest variable costs compared ...

Electrostatic Precipitator Performance in Indian Pulverized Coal Based Thermal Power Stations - Problems and Solutions

Coal used in Indian thermal power stations is of inferior grade having low heat value and high ash content due to drift origin. However, Indian power coal ash is specially known by its refractory in nature and low sulphur (below 0.5%) and alkalis (less than 1.5%) contents. Due to presence of low sulphur and alkalis and consequently having very high ash resistivity (10 – 10 O cm) it is difficult...
